My Kitchen on Down to Earth!

I am so thrilled to have my kitchen--and a link to my Mother Earth News article--featured as the final one in the "You, Me, and the Kitchen Sink" series at Down to Earth (even if it didn't make it through the interwebs to Rhonda the first time!).

Click here to read the post.

Thank you Rhonda, for including me, and a big hello and welcome to all you DTE readers! Thanks for stopping by!

Matt and I are off to Smith Rock State Park for a weekend of rock climbing and camping, I hope you all enjoy your weekend, and thanks for reading!

Hi Liz! My name is Sam and I am a 25 year old girl from Sydney, Australia. I read Rhonda's DET blog and saw her post about your kitchen, so I followed the link to check out your blog. I love it! I can't believe how much have in common. I am interested to keep reading your blog and get advice on living 'greener', something that I aspire to achieve but find hard due to my living in the largest city in Australia. What kind of sewing do you like to do? I saw you said you liked sewing...

I came here from Down-to-earth, and I like your blog (and your kitchen, of course)!
In many of your photos there is the book "How to cook everything". Do you use it often? WOuld you recommend it?

Liz, I can't believe I read an article about a fellow Newport person on a blog from Australia! The world is indeed very small. I absolutely loved your story in Mother Earth News. My family and I live on ten wooded acres 6 miles west of Newport, and we also homeschool our 'socially deprived' daughter. She loves it and wouldn't have it any other way (and neither would we). Thanks so much for sharing your sink!

Good morning. I just came from Rhonda's and your kitchen is sweet. I love your lights that you leave up all year. It's wonderful having a view out into the back yard and a doorway out there too, and great to have a vase of flowers from the gardens.

I thoroughly enjoyed your article in M.E.N. What a great life you had growing up. You were fortunate to have had that terrific experience.

Thank you for sharing.

Just read your article at Mother Earth News. What a great upbringing! Its hard being a kid at times and not swimming in the mainstream, but it certainly makes you a better adult having a rich a varied childhood like you did.
Glad I found your blog.

I love your kitchen post at Rhonda's. Your kitchen is small but lovely (from someone who has a small kitchen too). I especially love your white lights and I might borrow your idea to use them somehow in my home. It's adorable!

Hi everyone! Thanks for reading!

Sam: Mostly I'm doing simple sewing- mending, things involving hemming (napkins are easy!), and I aspire to actually sew clothing some day...

Hilde: How to Cook Everything is a great book! I use it a lot as a reference, to find ideas for using a certain type of ingredients, and then adapt recipes to my preferences. The author, Mark Bittman, also wrote a vegetarian version.

Lisa M.- that's amazing that there's another Newport person here! I'm so glad you're here!

Thanks friends!
